11 Oct |
Temp cover often includes the 1 day car insurance policy. The policy is designed for those of you who plan to drive one day, six months, or one year. If you expect to drive during this cycle, you qualify for the one day car insurance, or temporary coverage.
There are times when normal brokers or insurance agencies can’t help you get 1 day car insurance. At times when you have to borrow a friend’s vehicle to take a trip, or take an extended test drive, you may find it difficult to find insurance agencies to cover you for one day. If you have recently purchased a vehicle at an auction, you will need short-term insurance coverage so you can drive home legally. If you do not have coverage and the law pulls you over, you are subject to court cost and fines. Save yourself some money and go online to get a quote.
Not every insurance agency offers the one day car insurance policy. By getting a quote online, you can narrow your search and find companies that do offer the temporary coverage you need. Very few companies offer plans from one to 28 days. Other plans offered include pay as you go, but these types of plans you purchase month-to-month.
The companies that do offer the one day coverage make themselves available on the Web. Get a quote to find a company that can get you what you need. This type of policy requires less paperwork, so you can get covered right away. Any documents the company writes up for you is sent through the mail. Some companies enable you to download your insurance proof from their web site. You can get covered instantly by finding the right agency. Read the rest of this entry »

read comments (0)| Payment Methods for Commercial Fleet Insurance |
15 Aug |
Commercial fleet insurance can cover two to two thousand or more vehicles. There are some insurance companies that will want to cover more than two vans or other fleet vehicles. If they do there is usually a stated minimum. Most often there is also a maximum amount you can have insured on the same policy. When you complete a van insurance comparison with a comparison website you can determine what policy might fit you and your company best. In other words, you can create a bespoke policy to cover your needs.
Among some of your options in fleet insurance is replacement van insurance. When your vehicle is in for repairs you will have a replacement vehicle to drive. It helps keep your drivers on the road to make their deliveries even when you are getting services done for an accident or other issue related to the fleet vehicle.
When you go searching for insurance the site will tell you the level of cover, legal options, legal fees, and help you figure out the cover you need in the event an accident happens in your fleet. You should check on the public liability insurance information too just to be certain you are within the legal limits.
All HGV insurance is designed to protect you against 3rd party claims. Claims can arise where your fleet driver is at fault and where they are not at fault. When property or other damage occurs it can be highly expensive.
Given the intricacies of fleet insurance it can pay to examine the different payment methods you have. Like most items you can pay for today there are a variety of options to pay the bill. For example with insurance you can pay on a monthly basis. You will have a six month or a year premium, but you still pay in instalments. You could pay for a policy in bulk with a six month or yearly payment.
Another option that many do not think about is the pay as you go fleet insurance. This type of policy allows you to pay only when you need to cover on the fleet. For example, if you have a small fleet of business cars for visiting company members you may want to have pay as you go insurance in order to save money. There are plenty of reasons for pay as you go insurance, so you will want to find out more about it if you find it is of interest.

| How You Can Take Care of your Leased Car to Avoid Fees |
28 Jun |
Leasing a car may be a less expensive option than buying. But, you may be assessed additional charges when your lease is up. You must decide whether you plan on returning the car and sign up for your next lease or if you are going to keep it. Depending on how you have maintained your leased vehicle, you may also have to divvy up some more money. Here are a few ways you can take care of leased car to avoid hefty fees.
Early Termination – Keep your car until the lease term ends. If you try to trade it in early, it is called “early termination” and will likely cost you a pretty penny.
Mileage – Leases usually have a limit on the number of miles you can put on the car – usually 10,000 – 15,000 per year. If you go over, you will be charged for every mile over that limit (sometimes up to $1 per mile). So, no long road trips or serving as the soccer team’s taxi service if you want to avoid high mileage. If you find yourself racking up the miles, you could purchase the car instead of returning it after the lease to avoid paying the mileage fees.
Take Care – You must keep up with the general maintenance schedule and make sure to keep the records to submit when you return the car. Maintenance may include regular oil changes, tire rotations, brakes, etc. Take care of the car inside and out, as the car condition will be taken into consideration for the value at turn-in.
Wear and Tear – There is likely to be general wear and tear from a few years of driving any car, but do your best to fix any imperfections and shine up the exterior before returning the car. A visit to a body shop to get minor repairs tackled like a chipped windshield or bald tires. Clean your car thoroughly or spend a little money on a professional detail, making the return process a little easier.

| Finding A Cheap Motorcycle Helmet |
8 Oct |
A cheap motorcycle helmet doesnt have to be inferior to the more expensive ones. It is just a matter of looking for what kind of motorcycle helmets would work best for you. There are cheap motorcycle helmets that can perform just as well as the most popular brands out there. In order to look for them, you should be able to know how to find those helmets and what features and qualities to look for.
One of the most important features that you should look for in looking for a cheap motorcycle helmet is the comfort that it provides. The motorcycle helmet can either make or break your riding experience. An uncomfortable helmet can make any ride an agonizing experience. Helmet comfort is difficult to determine right away. In order to make your search easier, try checking out cheap but recognizable brands which are generally the most comfortable.
Check out also the soft rubber padding touching your head as well as the solid seal around the ears. Check out also the neck roll which cradles the back of your head and neck. When trying out a cheap motorcycle helmet, make sure that it snugly fits into your head without being too constricting. But also make sure that it isnt loose enough to shift about your head.
Another feature that you should look for in a cheap motorcycle helmet is the level of safety that it can provide. The best motorcycle helmets are those that provide the most protection. In finding the best helmet for you, check for the fit as well as the interior padding that can provide you with the protection that you need. See to it that these interior pads can help provide the amount of safety and protection that you are looking for as well as comfort.
Try also checking out the helmets chin strap which must reach around your and under your chin comfortably and securely so that the helmet would not shift about unnecessarily. Make sure that your helmet is also the best fitted for you by wearing it yourself. A good fit should mean a helmet that is settled low on the forehead and just above your eyebrows.
Check yourself in the mirror while wearing the helmet to make sure that it is straight and properly fitted. For safety purposes, be sure to choose a DOT (Department of Transportation) approved helmet to be sure that your safety and protection is guaranteed. Try checking the safety ratings of the helmets that you are checking to ensure that you will be using a helmet with reliable head coverage.

| Dont Overload Motorcycle Backrest Bags |
30 Sep |
The motorcycle backrest bags not only provide valuable support but can be used to carry light items on long cruises. It is important to keep the bag light, because a heavy load at a high point in the bag can have an adverse effect on low-speed handling.
The features that you need to look at while buying a motorcycle backrest bag are:
1. Mounting systems: Your backrest bag needs to fit snugly on to the bar. So make sure that the bar is neither too tall nor too wide for the bag. Also keep in mind that some bags can be rested on the pillion seat while others need a luggage rack.
2. Rigid vs. soft: It is worth considering whether you would want to have a rigid or a soft bag. Rigid bags have a definite advantage: they fit better and are easier to pack and unpack. You can also put them on the passenger seat and use it as a backrest.
3. Weatherproofing and durability: Most bags have their own waterproof covering. But you should be selective about the weather proofing material. For example, leather may look better but heavy-grade nylon is probably more durable.
4. Capacity: Bigger does not mean better. Loading a big heavy bag on the back of your bike can alter a motorcycle’s centre of gravity. This can result in poor handling and even loss of control.
5. Convenience: Most backrest bags now have additional features. There are backpack straps and roller wheels. Make sure that the straps are padded and roller wheels have a low profile.
Some of the popular brands available in the market are:
1. Harley-Davidson Universal Roller Bag: This bag, which is 17.5 inches high, 16 inches wide and 10 inches deep, has the following features:
– Waterproof Climashield fabric
– 1.8 cubic foot interior with small pockets and compartments.
– Front zip opening for cargo
– Metal handles and rollerblade wheels.
2. Kuryakyn Full Dresser Bag: This bag, which is 16 inches wide, 11 inches deep and 28 inches high, has the following features:
– 2.5 cubic foot capacity
– 1200-denier Cordura exterior
– Fully lined interior for weatherproofing and durability
3. Dowco Rally Pack Universal Luggage System: The important features of this backrest bag which is 17 inches high and 14.5 inches wide are:
– two-piece combination of Jumbo Pack and Roll Bag.
– Cordura nylon exterior
– 1.5 cubic feet of volume
4. Marsee Products 50-Liter Cruiser Bar Bag: This is a big bag, 22 inches high, 17 inches wide and 8 inches deep. Its notable features are:
– 1050-denier ballistic fabric
- 50 litre capacity
– bag converts to backpack with straps
– fits on most cruisers
The other popular backrest bags available in the market are: Willie & Max BlackHawk Max Pax, Tour Master Cruiser II Sissybar Bag (Large), T-Bags Universal Lone Star, Saddlemen Super Taos Sissybar Bag, River Road Classic Bike Pack & Travel Case, Rev-Pack Rest Pack and Nelson-Rigg CTB-900 Deluxe Tourer.

| Dont Compromise On Motorcycle Racing Gear |
28 Sep |
The finest motorcycle racing gear is seen on the race tracks, and why not. The riders are aware of the dangers of skidding or colliding at high speeds, and take great precautions to protect their vital organs. Almost every accessory from helmets to motorcycle boots has extra protection.
The helmet is the most critical. You cannot sport a DOT certified helmet and hope to take part in a racing event. Almost every racing federation lays down the minimum rating that is acceptable. This rating is laid down by Snell Foundation, and is indicated on the inside of race helmets.
All riders ensure that the helmets they use fit snugly on their heads. There are no spaces between the cheeks and the padding. Most important, the helmet stays on the head, and does not roll off in case the bike skids or the rider hits an object.
It is equally important to have a clear view of the field. This involves not only a front view but also a side view. Often, riders get involved in an accident because the helmet walls reduce the side view.
The riders then need to protect their vulnerable parts like knees, elbows and shoulders. For this, they need specially designed racing suits that are made of thick leather and have heavy padding around elbows, shoulders, and knees. This armor is firmly sewn into the racing suit and does not slip off.
Another important requirement of racing suits is flexibility, especially in the arms and the shoulder region, not to mention the knees and the legs. These are the body parts that need highest flexibility, especially when the bike is in motion.
Equally important are the motorcycle boots. Almost every rider wears ankle-high boots because of the extra protection that these boots bring. These boots come with an extra lining, and have soles that are usually welded into the uppers so that they dont fall away in case the rider drags his feet along the ground.
Another important part of a bikers racing gear is gloves. These give the riders a proper grip, and help them manage throttle, clutch, brake, and turning operations smoothly. The racing gloves come with extra padding on the palms and finger backs to avoid bruising in case of a spill.
Every rider must ensure that they buy the best racing gear. It can make a big difference between life and death in case of an accident.

| Your Trunks Saving Grace |
26 Sep |
Do you remember when was the last time you looked in your trunk? Statistics have it that the trunk is oftentimes one of the most neglected parts and areas of a vehicle. Also, it is in fact one of the most overlooked and mostly taken for granted parts. Remember that for most of your cars lifetime, you only remember the trunk when you need to put or get something out of it.
More often than not, we store various types of things inside the trunk. And sometimes, these things that we put inside contain various materials and elements that could harm the trunk. So, as a car owner, it is important that you know how to protect and keep your trunk in good condition. Of course, you would like to have a trunk in good condition for if not, where would you be storing and hauling your share of cargo?
To save your trunk from degradation, you have to collect first everything you need before you start on your big project. You would be needing a bed liner spray that would work on your vehicles trunk. There are some that are used to line truck beds. You can ask around auto parts stores. Also, you would need a paint spray gun, a compressor, masking tape, lacquer thinner, sandpaper, and paper.
First, you should be able to strip your cars trunk if it has carpet. Then, clean the surface thoroughly. Try to sand down any high sports or rough spots that may have found their way to your car trunks walls or floor. Make sure that you get the surfaces as smooth as possible. This is to ensure that when you use the bed liner spray, it would actually take much hold on the paint.
When you have done so, mask off the border of the trunk with the masking tape. Remember to cover up all parts that do not need any spraying. Remove your cars seat. Spread then the paper you have around the area so that your cars interior would not be receiving any kind of overspray. Make sure that you tape parts of the paper so that the spray would not get through the cracks.
Wipe the lacquer thinner in your cars trunk. This actually helps the bed liner spray get its grip. Mix the adhesive of the spray and stir for around a minute. Make sure that you follow the directions that came along with the spray. Then, spray it where you would like it to be. Then, mix the lining part of the spray and stir for around a minute. Pour this mixture into the spray gun paint reservoir and use this to apply the liner throughout the trunk. When done, carefully remove the masking tape and paper and let it dry according to the specifications given by the liner package.

| Your Tire Counts |
26 Sep |
The Automobile Club of Southern California has recently stated that as long as your vehicle has tires that are in good working condition, you would be able to have a good fuel economy and extend the life of your vehicle as well. This is in accordance and with regards to the National Tire Safety Week which started just last April 23rd and would be continuing at the end of this week.
The National Tire Safety Week was launched so as to assist drivers in understanding the basic tire care. Aside from this, the fact remains that there is still that need for proper tire maintenance. From researches done, the statistics have shown that around 85 percent of drivers do not actually check their vehicles tire pressure properly.
Engineer Steve Mazor who is the Auto Clubs principal automotive engineer states, Not knowing the condition of your vehicles tires is equal to pouring money down the drain. Proper tire inflation is necessary to for safe driving and to reduce gas costs. He continues, Under inflated tires can cut fuel economy by up to two percent per pound of pressure below the recommended level. During every fill up, motorists should walk around their vehicles and check tires for uneven or excessive tread wear and proper inflation. Drivers can refer to their vehicles doorjamb or glove box for original specifications or the manufacturer of the replacement tire for tire pressure inflation.
As per statistics that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has, nearly one out of every three vehicles on the roads and highways has a significant under inflated tire. Aside from this fact is that there are some 600 fatalities and around 33,000 injuries that happen every year. These are results of low tire pressure related crashes.
On the other hand, Auto Parts Discounts collection of discount Buick parts and other vehicles parts are simply accessed at its site. These assist in keeping your vehicle in tiptop shape. Their Buick parts are one of the lowest priced and are produced with great durability.

Your Mechanic Can Be a Valuable Asset When Purchasing A Used Car
Car dealers are not particularly well liked, and knowing as many of them as I do, I can understand why that might be the case. I run an import shop in Florida that specializes in late model luxury imports. I’ve been in business for quite some time, and I have heard plenty of horror stories from customers regarding other dealerships. In my opinion, I think the majority of car dealerships one will encounter are reputable, by and large. I say “by and large” because some dealers I know use nickel and dime methods to maximize their profits, which I disagree with. Personally, I would rather give the customer a quality auto at a fair price and consequently gain a lifetime customer, but that’s a topic for another article.
One of the more recent horror stories I heard involved someone who had purchased a vehicle that was leaking oil. For those of you that know anything about cars, you know that this is nothing to be taken lightly. The customer was assured by the dealership that this older, yet low mileage used car was in pristine condition. Here’s where it gets interesting… Before the sale, the customer asked if she could have the car inspected by her mechanic. The dealership did everything they possibly could to keep that from happening, and succeeded. They told her that they would have their own mechanics do a “twenty point inspection” which would save her the time and expense of having her mechanic take a look. Unbelievable! Since the customer parked her car on a busy street where there were already several oil spots, she never noticed the leaking until after her ridiculously short thirty day warranty was up.
Her mechanic would have spotted an oil leak the minute he had the car up on the rack. As disheartening as this story is, there is a valuable lesson to be learned here. Car buyers, unless they are dealing with a dealer they are familiar with and whom they trust, should seriously consider having a mechanic check out any used car they are interested in (preferrably the local certified manufacturer dealer of the automobile make they are considering). I have had several first time customers ask me if they can have the car independently inspected and I am always happy to oblige. Take my word for it, the only dealers who would frown upon independent inspections are those who have something to hide.

| Your Car Is Not A Portable Storage Space |
25 Sep |
Your car is one of the most important properties that could come into your life. It is not only very useful when you need to go to some place that is quite far from your home. Your car also saves you from having to go through all the effort that a commuter would have to suffer through to get to a place he chooses to go to. However, your car could also become a portable storage space. Even as you are reading this, you might not yet know it but your car is already filled with various things that you may not need at all.
It is important that you do keep your vehicle clean and very much organized. Remember, if your car is loaded with various things, it actually uses up much gas because of the excess weight. So, if there are things in there that you do not need, do not hesitate to take them out and bring them right where they belong right inside your house.
You can go through your car and its trunk as well. Get everything out. Then, sort everything out. Of course, if you see garbage, throw it away. If you have empty water bottles or coffee cups you might have stashed in your car in a hurry and have forgotten about them, then it is now time to bring them back to your kitchen. Also, see about all the other things you might find inside your car. You may find tools, maintenance supplies, CDs, manuals, maps, some shoes, and your childrens school stuff among other things. Sort them out and see which ones you could do without in your car.
To make sure your car is organized, you can put in organizers inside. Maybe a CD rack for cars could do the trick in keeping all your CDs and tapes organized. You can also put in a trash bin in your back seat. You can also put a box inside your cars trunk to stash your maintenance supplies and other important things you may need for your car.
