The Irish Driving Scene. An Instructors Perspective

The Driving Environment

Todays motoring environment is very different to that of thirty or even fifteen years ago for a number of key reasons and we will examine these to get an idea of the kind of skills needed to survive in todays world and stay accident free.
For the first time in over one hundred and fifty years our population has exceeded 4 million and continues to increase steadily.

Demographics
The age of our population is quite unique and according to the 2002 census there are approximately 640,200 people in the 15 24 age bracket who are in, or approaching, the age at which they will want to drive. Lets be clear on this point every person in todays Ireland will aspire to drive and own a car in this prosperity environment, for career, family and social reasons .In the past until you had the potential to be able to own a car it was quite common not to bother to learn to drive. Those that needed to get to work from a distance tended to rely on neighbours and friends or relatives to be the ever present chauffeur. Its very common today for an exodus from the city limits out to the open country to live, with huge numbers of houses, sorry mansions; being constructed at seemingly breakneck speed. The draw of the country air and the sweet sounds of birds in the morning seems to be an irresistible magnet for the city dweller. A car or three is taken for granted. Of course , we are a nation of keen gardeners now and the regular trip to the garden centre could not be undertaken by public transport because it doesnt exist in most rural areas. All of this means that we have a far greater number of cars and drivers on the road than thirty years ago and at different times of day due to many variations in working hours. So there is hardly a time when you are unlikely to meet another vehicle. Six am during the working week can be just as dangerous as five thirty rush hour.

Learner Drivers
Current numbers of learner Drivers are estimated at 350,000 and this continues to be swelled by the increase in our immigrant population, both expatriates and non-nationals setting up home here for the first time. The waiting list for a Driving Test has reached an all time high due mainly to these demographics, but also to the relatively small number of Driving Examiners
. This situation is being addressed at the moment with the probability of an outside agency being drafted in to undertake a further 40,000 Driving Tests over the course of a year .While it is unfortunate that all drivers have to wait such a long time in order to sit their Test it is an opportunity for them to learn some very essential skills and to prepare well for the Test.
It is very common for candidates to leave their lessons to the last moment which very often produces a negative result. Worse still, is the mistaken belief that the longer one is driving the greater chance of passing the Driving Test. Without professional lessons the chances of passing the Test are pretty remote; but more crucial will be the lack of basic skills leading to accidents which can and should be preventable .Passing the Driving Test, while certainly a milestone in a persons driving career, is only the beginning of a life long process not the end.

Professional Tuition
Safe Driving for Life can be achieved, with the correct mind set and the knowledge that good basic driving skills are the foundation for the learning process and need to be provided by Professional Instructors and not relatives or friends. Practise with Mum or Dad is very useful but only in conjunction with proper Tuition. Being able to move a car down the road and perhaps change a gear or two and even steer out of trouble is not the level of skill needed to stay alive and is about as far from the required Driving Test standard as we are from the Moon.(about 250,000 miles, sorry 400,000Km at the last count).I am not suggesting that we need to drive a quarter of a million miles

New Technology
The development of technology over the last number of years has had a big impact on the driving environment both positive and negative. Better roads and road markings make the driving experience much more pleasurable especially on major thoroughfares; however despite the millions of Euro spent on the main road infrastructure, Irish country roads will probably remain as they have always been, difficult and full of danger for the novice or Tourist Driver.
Legislation, most of which has emanated from Europe, has contributed to better maintained cars, that are more Eco-friendly and more easy to drive. Having said that, a car will quite easily go off and do its own thing if the driver has not got the ability to control it under all kinds of weather and road conditions.
Cars are much better insulated than years ago so the impression of speed is nothing like what it was thirty or forty years ago when you really knew you were travelling at 70mph.Wind noise and vibration kept you alert and aware! Even small family cars today have the ability to travel at 100mph (or 156kph) without too much coaxing .Back then a much larger capacity engine of say 1500 cc had a top speed of around 75mph (120kph).This ease of speed gives new and novice drivers the opportunity to far exceed their capabilities without realising it .

Employment
In todays Ireland we have virtually full employment and many sectors are suffering from a lack of skilled employees, the commercial driving sector being one of many. More jobs and the need to get to those jobs on time has created a society that is flush with prosperity and awash with an ever increasing number of new cars on the road. The opportunities now being created for younger people with full Driving Licenses are many. Indeed most occupations now require you to have a full driving license and it certainly looks good on a C.V. especially if you are in the younger age bracket. So get to it all you young ones and dont leave it till later on in your career. Do it now!

Accidents
Most of these new cars on the road are being piloted by Learner Drivers, a good proportion of whom, do not take driving lessons professionally.
Unlike most of the rest of our European Neighbours, we do not yet have mandatory tuition for learner drivers, although it is being proposed. Therefore we have a situation whereby learner drivers can buy a car and just head off into the wide blue yonder without the necessary skills to control what is essentially a lethal weapon. Our Accident statistics bear out this point and it would be of great benefit to the whole community to see a reduction in these horrific figures
Recent E.U. Directives have extended the scope of the Driving Test and not before time. There has to be at least a basic knowledge of instruments and equipment before you can pass the Driving Test today but there are still many areas of driving expertise that do not come within the remit of the Irish Driving Test. An emergency stop; country road driving; high speed carriageway experience and a greater emphasis on hazard perception would go a long way to improving standards on todays roads by being incorporated into the Driving Test.

The Importance of Car Information 31
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 31st, 2010

You recall your first car? Was it a hunk of junk or a nice one? You may have resorted to the local newspaper for your car information in order to find that inexpensive, little jalopy. Or perhaps you were lucky enough to receive one is the gift or be able to afford one yourself. No matter where you searched, one thing was for sure; you wanted a good deal. In the past, this could often prove a difficult task. If it was bought from a dealer, he could make up any outrageous price that he wanted to, and if you went to an individual that had a car for sale you could end up with a junker and not know it until a month later and then you would be totally out of luck. This is really that big of a deal now a days. A deluge of car information is at your fingertips online.

I still remember my first car like it was yesterday. It was a 1978 Fiat Spider convertible. I got it from a college kid for $1100. It was a pretty decent first car. I mean I wasn’t expecting a Porsche for $1100. It was one of those cars that you couldn’t just let sit around not using it. You had to start everyday so it would turn over when you took it out for a spin. I recall one instance where I had not started it for three consecutive days. Big mistake, but fortunately I could always pop the clutch. While this wasn’t the greatest car in the the universe, I definitely knew one thing, the seller provided all necessary car information upon my test drive so there wasn’t any confusion. He has all the paperwork in order including service and maintenance records. It would be nice if everyone was as prepared.

If you’re heading out to a dealership to find that new family van, or sports car, it’s always a good idea to do your homework online first. The Internet is a vast reservoir of knowledge and information. It truly is a priceless resource. The car information online will save you plenty of like work. You know that you want a safe vehicle, and you know you want to avoid getting ripped off. Well, with the car information found on the World Wide Web, your worries should be subsided. The dealers no longer have the upper hand, that now belongs to us, the consumer. But the advantage is only hours if we choose to use it.

When you step into that dealership, you know what the vehicle sells for. The Internet will prevent you from being ripped off by exorbitant pricing. With your PC you can check out the numerous car sites in your area to see who’s offering what. There are even online sales that can be found on auctions such as Ebay and other state and federal auction sites run by government agencies. The buyer is now the one in charge when purchasing that new car. With car information so accessible, finding that ride of your dreams is a synch.

The Iconic, Hairdresser Friendly: 2006 Honda Civic Coupe 31
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 31st, 2010

Transforming an icon is never easy. However, the designers and engineers at Honda have done an outstanding job of keeping alive the spirit of Soichiro Honda with the 2006 Honda Civic coupe. When Honda first entered the American market in 1962, they manufactured motorcycles, but the manufacturer expanded to automobiles by introducing clean, economical, and reliable cars. In 1963, Honda spent $350,000 on two 90-second commercials that appeared on the Academy Awards. The ads, though deceptively simple from longtime ad agency Rubin Postaer and Associates, claimed: You meet the nicest people on a Honda. Within months, the company sold millions of dollars in motorcycles, but it was not until the introduction of the 1973 Honda Civic did the company achieve its first automotive breakthrough. The American made 2006 Civic is elegant, speedy, safe, and fuel efficient car averaging 40 mpg (51 mpg for the Hybrid) that happily keeps with tradition. Winner of Motor Trend magazines 2006 Car of the Year, the 2006 Civic offers a challenge to the Toyota Prius, as Hondas icon reborn.

If you walk around the 2006 Civic coupes exterior, you cant help but notice the aerodynamically sculpted front nose that resembles a menacing bullet train at speed, hints at where the soul of this car is at. (The car is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.8 liter i-VTEC engine.) The beautifully contoured taillights are wide and arch inwards into the trunk, suggesting an approachable, friendly disposition. Step inside the cabin and the ergonomically designed interior lives up to the hype with stylized, center mounted, backlit RPM dials. The seats are firm and immediately make you feel comfortable as a rogue navigator contemplating his or her next move. The sum purpose of the 2006 Civic coupe is to enhance driving to the fullest, enabling you to keep your eyes on the road, hands on the wheel and foot on the gas.

At the heart of 2006 Honda Civic coupe is its outstanding 140-horsepower i-VTEC engine that comes standard in all Civic DX, LX and EX models. Hondas racing heritage is vociferously felt in i-VTEC technology that gives you more efficient acceleration across the entire RPM bandwidth, while achieving an EPA estimated fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon. However, the most practical 2006 Civic is the Hybrid, capable of achieving 49 mpg in the city, and 51 mpg on the highway without spoiling any of the fun.
The Civic showcase is the Si, offering the performance envelope of 197 horses from a naturally aspired 2.0-liter engine. The Si is only available in a 6-speed manual, with limited slip differential, and a lowered suspension.

Acceleration is only half the battle in todays nanosecond world. How the car brakes, corners, and stops are also equally important. As a result, the 2006 Honda Civic coupe is also big on safety. All new Civic models feature side curtain airbags, front side airbags, advanced compatibility engineering and body structure reinforcement to redirect energy around the passenger compartment in case of an accident. For active safety, an automatic seat belt tensioning system is in place to securely hold all occupants in case of collision, and the anti-lock, 4-wheel disk brakes (ABS) will enable you to maintain steering control during hard stops as the Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) will even out braking forces at each wheel. With such a diverse commitment to safety, the 2006 Honda Civic has earned the 5-Star Crash Test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If that wasnt enough, the new Civic further rewards your senses with a state of the art audio entertainment system. The car is pre-wired for XM Satellite Radio, MP3 players and WMA and also has an Apple iPod adapter that connects directly to the cars audio. The 160-watt AM/FM/CD 6-speaker audio system amplifies the sound in the cabin for a fantastic effect. The Si boasts a 350-watt system with subwoofer and has an added amplifier for mega bass. Simply download your favorites, plug in your music and press play.

Soichiro Honda understood the desires of the open road. He understood the language of cool, and the needs of the youthfully minded sports car enthusiast. The 2006 Honda Civic fulfils his legacy for an inexpensive road car, with superb lines, a fuel efficient engine, and sound ergonomics. If you have previously owned a Civic, the MSRP of $14,360 $20,900 for the reinvented 2006 Honda Civic will awaken all senses. If you own a higher priced luxury car, you may be tempted to trade it in. Whether you choose the Hybrid, the Si, or the DX/LX models, you will be purchasing one of the finest, fuel efficient icons in Hondas history.

The Hyundai Azera Surges to the Top 30
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 30th, 2010

Hyundais all-new near-luxury sedan, the Azera, has been received with critical acclaim. Consumers and critics are calling the Hyundai Azera the highest quality, most luxurious Hyundai to ever appear in the highly competitive US market. A recent award from the automotive consultant group, AutoPacific has underscored what many are quickly learning: the Hyundai Azera is a car that leads in customer satisfaction. None of this is a surprise to Hyundai, but it may be as surprise for you. Read on for a look at Hyundais darling near-luxury sedan.

Near-luxury, you say? Yes, it is a category reserved for cars that have many luxury appointments and high engineering standards without the price. Retailing at just over $27,000, the Hyundai Azera is a bargain when compared to similar cars from BMW and Lexus, but not quite the engineering and technological marvel of these two competitors, however. Yet, the Hyundai Azera is offering plenty for consumers at prices well below that of its would-be competitors.

So, what has Hyundai dished up with the Azera? Plenty:

If you like performance, then the Hyundai Azera delivers. Try this on for size: a 3.8L V6 that produces a hefty an impressive 263 horsepower and 255 pounds of torque; terrific for a car of its size.

If you like speed, the Hyundai Azera beats out the Toyota Avalon by registering a zero to 60 time of 6.5 seconds. Compare that to 6.9 for the Avalon.

If you like authenticity, then the Azeras real wood and aluminum trim will inspire you. No plastic trim, no faux woodthe Hyundai Azera incorporates Lexus-like luxury into its cabin.

If you like cabin comfort, the Hyundai Azeras lengthy feature list is sure to please. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, power front seats, a 60/40-split rear seat, dual automatic climate control, and a CD/MP3 player are some of the creature comforts offered with the SE. Order the top of the line Premium Azera and you get a rear window sunscreen, a 6-disc Infinity sound system, adjustable pedals, rain-sensing wipers, folding side mirrors, and much more. Keep in mind that even with all of these extras the price of the Azera holds well below the $30,000 level.

Styling is all new for the Azera which is on a stretched version of the Sonata platform. The Hyundai Azera replaces the dated XG350, a car big on luxury but disappointing on engineering.

Yes, the Hyundai Azera boldly goes where no U.S. marketed Hyundai has gone before. This is good news for a leader and a car that will certainly cause Toyota and Honda to stand up and take notice.

The Hobby RC Cars 30
Jul

The Hobby: RC Cars

The race is long and you do not want to be left behind, do you? Have you any clue of RC cars and RC racing? Your answer may be on the affirmative. This is because RC racing is now becoming a prominent hobby around the world.

RC racing gets into your system like an addicting cigar. You savor, you puff – and enjoy the sensation. But the sensation is addicting that you want to do it to a greater extent. Satisfy your craving for adventure you can do it by telling your hands to move those joysticks and experience an overwhelming racing escapade.

There are two types of RC cars available in the market these days – the electric and the gasoline powered RC cars. Electric powered RC cars are easy to run and maintain. They are also made quieter. If you feel like racing, you can simply plug in the batteries and run the RC car. As long as the parts are assembled, all you have to do just turn it on and enjoy the show. This is the reason why these RC cars are good for the amateurs.

However, if you wanted a car that spells performance and fun, you can go for RC cars that run on gas. These RC cars are faster and more functional than electric powered RC cars. Nonetheless, they are complex. They require hard work and maintenance. But they are more exciting, nonetheless.

Gas powered RC cars are adored by veteran racers because of their more realistic drive feel. In fact, if you run said models, you can actually hear the engine and feel the heart-thumping power. Another advantage of gas powered RC cars is that you need not wait for batteries to recharge, you just refill the fuel and your back on the thrilling race once again. However, compared to electric RC car, this type of RC car is costly.

Electric and gas powered RC cars both have their sets of advantages and disadvantages. You just have to weigh which of the two is most appealing to you. Be sure that your choice of RC car will not drain your finances. Purchasing and maintaining an RC car that is fueled by gas is expensive. Be certain that you can bear the expenses without drilling a hole in your pocket.

If you have visited an RC car shop, you might have wondered why a RC car hobby would cost more than a toy RC. In addition, the difference in the price is over a hundred dollars that’s quite a sum!

When you go to a hobby store that is specializing in RC cars, one purchase could cause a grave dent in your pocket. This is because most hobby stores are of a professional grade. The hobby RC cars they are selling are designed to perform like the real thing real cars, trucks, boats and airplanes.

Some of the hobby-grade RC cars are unassembled while others come in partially assembled RC car kit. However, if you want to break free from the hassle of assembly or if you know nothing about the thing, never dare to do it by yourself. Instead, you can opt for an assembled version of the RC car. They are offered by RC car shops. Remember that it is better to let the experts do the assembly for you rather that having it your way and destroy your precious RC car.

If you want your kids to enjoy the adrenaline rush of RC’s, you can purchase RC toy cars for them. The latter are designed for children and amateurs alike.

The Historical Scoop on Body Kits 29
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 29th, 2010

Initially, body kits (formerly known and sometimes referred to as ground effects) were produced as a result of the need to reduce drag on racing vehicles. The idea was that the ground effects would lower the profile of the car, and create less wind resistance, or more efficient aerodynamics. This worked by deflecting the air to travel around the car instead of underneath it. Furthermore, with the improved aerodynamics, the car became easier to control as it reduced lifting effect at high speeds.

A man known as Jim Hall was one of the first scientific pioneers to experiment with car aerodynamics. Prior to Mr. Hall’s place in history, aerodynamics had been engineered mostly for the use of aircraft. Hall’s ideas and projects began in the start of 1961, however, the benefits of his improved, aerodynamic designs were not discovered until much later. In 1970, he eventually helped manufacture a car to compete in the Formula One races. Unfortunately, however, Formula One banned the use of these “aerodynamic cars” that same year, as they were believed to have an unfair advantage.

After Hall, other aerodynamicists and designers took stage attempting to produce a car similar to what Hall had envisioned. Some notable contributors included Gordon Murry, Peter Wright, and Tony Rudd, amongst others. Eventually these aerodynamic cars were allowed back on the race track, however, a well known racer known as Gilles Villeneuve, died in a horrific car accident from a similar (aerodynamic) vehicle. As a result, the design was again banned on the race track in an effort to keep vehicles at limited speeds.

Despite these events, car enthusiasts have still continued to improve on the aerodynamics of their vehicles. Whether they are looking to improve the styling and exterior appearance (with body kits) or attain benefit from the improved performance of an aerodynamic vehicle, it seems to work.

The Heat Is Rising: Make Sure Your Car Is Running 29
Jul

The Heat Is Rising: Make Sure Your Car Is Running

You’ve worked hard all year and summer vacation is right around the corner. You deserve some rest and relaxation, but nothing can ruin a vacation like being stranded on the side of the road miles from your destination.

As you prepare to get away this summer, follow these helpful tips that can help make your vacation as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

* Get a complete vehicle inspection. Your vehicle manufacturer recommends services and inspections at regularly scheduled intervals to keep your vehicle running. A complete vehicle inspection, including the air-conditioning system, may help drivers avoid costly repairs as well as keep cool on hot summer days. A technician can help ensure a vehicle’s engine, battery, exhaust system and cooling system are all in good working order.

* Check tire pressure monthly and before long trips. Properly inflate all four tires, plus the spare, to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended levels. Tires can lose up to 1 pound per square inch per month under normal conditions. Use an accurate tire gauge to check tire air pressure monthly and always when the car is cool -; meaning the car has been driven less than 1 mile or has not moved in at least three hours.

* Check tire tread. Tires should have at least 1/16 inch of tread depth. To perform the “penny test,” insert a penny in the tread at several points on the tire, with President Lincoln’s head pointed down. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head at any of the points, the tire is worn out and requires replacement. Remember, this test is only appropriate for tires on passenger vehicles.

* Check fluids. Fluid levels should be checked and filled if necessary, including engine oil and coolant, brake, transmission, windshield washer and power steering fluids. And don’t forget to check the gas.

* Do not overload the vehicle. Just as lighter loads increase fuel efficiency, overloading creates excessive heat inside your tires, robbing you of fuel economy. Overloading your vehicle can also cause excessive or irregular wear or early removal of tires if tires are not properly inflated or in good condition.

* Pack an emergency kit. Emergency kits will prepare drivers for unexpected breakdowns. Suggested items for a vehicle emergency kit include: jumper cables, a flashlight and batteries, a reflector, protective gloves, a basic toolkit, flares and matches, a gallon of water, nonperishable food, a 12-volt portable air compressor and a blanket. An auto club membership may also be helpful. Also, make sure your cell phone is charged.

The Five Years of the Daewoo Lanos 29
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 29th, 2010

Owning up to an overall length of only 160.4 inches for the hatchback version and only 166.8 inches for the sedan version, the Daewoo Lanos has been considered to be one of the smallest cars in the business. But do not think it is much smaller than one of the smallest cars, the Mini Cooper. The Daewoo Lanos is not that small.

The Daewoo Lanos has actually been crafted in two versions, as mentioned, the hatchback and the sedan. The hatchback holds two doors while there are four doors for the sedan version. The wheelbase of the vehicle is some 99.2 inches, and it stands 56.4 inches and is 66.1 inches wide. Its fuel tank can take in some 12.8 gallons of gas and both versions can actually seat and take in five passengers.

Manufactured by Daewoo, the Daewoo Lanos has been in production starting from 1997. However, this vehicle lines saga ended after a couple of years in 2002. When its production was halted, the space and niche that it left blank was filled in by the Daewoo Kalos late in the year 2002. It has been said that its competition were actually the Toyota Echo, the Hyundai Accent, the Suzuki Swift, the Dodge/Plymouth Neon, the Ford Focus, the Ford Escort/ZX2, the Honda Civic, and the Kia Rio. The Hyundai Accent was considered to be the Daewoo Lanos main competition.

The Daewoo Lanos is indeed a subcompact car. The design and style that it sported was the masterpiece of Giorgetto Giugiaro. The power of this vehicle came from the GM Family 1 D-TEC engines. These engines ranged from a 1.5 L SOHC to a 1.6 L DOHC. These engines were dual-overhead and held four cylinders. Each were offered to work with either a five speed manual shift transmission system or the optional four speed automatic transmission system.

It has been said that the Daewoo Lanos is a small car. However, this was possibly on the basis that it is the smallest vehicle of the trio of passenger cars that came out to the automobile market in the year 1999 from its manufacturer, Daewoo. It was a front wheel drive vehicle and it was made available in three trim levels which comprised of the S, the SE, and the SX. The latter was considered to be the top of the line trim level among all three levels of the Daewoo Lanos.

The Features and Options of the Mazda RX 8 28
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 28th, 2010

The North American International Auto Show back in the year 2001 served as the avenue and channel for the Mazda Motor Corporation to show off and introduce to the public one of the vehicles that showed much potential and delivered greatly. This vehicle is the Mazda RX 8. During its introduction that year, it held a 250 PS JIS RENESIS engine that could produce some 247 units of horsepower at 8500 rpm. This engine won the International Engine of the Year award and the Best New Engine award in 2003.

The Mazda RX 8 was made available in two variants. These variants are the 197-horsepower base model that held an automatic transmission system, and the 238-horsepower performance model with a six speed manual transmission system. Of course, there are differences between these two trim levels. The Mazda RX 8 with the automatic transmission system holds standard features like air conditioning, sixteen inch wheels, power windows, power locks, and power mirrors. As per the trim level with the manual transmission system, this vehicle has the same features as per the other one however, it has added features like a limited slip differential, a sport tuned suspension, and 18 inch wheels and tires.

Mazda has designed and manufactured the Mazda RX 8 to be a vehicle that could be upgraded. And the company has made sure that there are packages available for those interested in sprucing up their Mazda RX 8 vehicles. One package is the Sport package. This gives the vehicle additional xenon headlights, a stability and traction control system, fog lights, a limited slip differential, larger brakes, a retuned suspension, and eighteen inch wheels and tires. There also is the Touring package that has features like the Sport package but adds several more features like a sunroof, a Bose audio system, a HomeLink system, and auto dimming mirrors. The last package is the Grand Touring package that is considered to be a combination of the previously mentioned two packages. This package is considered to be top of the line and has additional equipment and features for the Mazda RX 8 like a six way power adjustable and heated drivers seat, leather upholstery, heated side mirrors, a navigation system, and an in-dash six disc CD changer.

The Factory Produced Vehicle 28
Jul
Posted by admin in Cars on 07 28th, 2010

You are planning on buying a new vehicle. In fact, you already have your pocket ready for any expenses. You also have set your sights on a particular vehicle. Now, all you need to do is purchase one along with the factory-installed options that you would your new vehicle to have.

The problem now is that the dealer does not quite have that kind of vehicle you want in stock. So, all you need to do now is to actually order from the factory itself. The important thing for you right now is that soon enough, you would be having a car that you have dreamed of and saved for.

Buying a factory produced vehicle has its own share of advantages. Aside from getting the right options in a vehicle, you also are treated to a lower price compared to dealers prices. Although the downside when it comes to this is that the wait for that car takes as long as 12 weeks. That is some 3 months of waiting.

To purchase a factory produced vehicle, you first have to find a reputable dealership. You would need them so that you can order that car you want. You see, you cannot quite order the vehicle directly yourself. This is why you need a dealer. And when you have found that dealer you trust, negotiate. Do this the same way you would do when you are purchasing a vehicle anywhere else. Also, it is important for you to know the invoice price and the cost of all the options that you want your vehicle to have. You can check out these prices online. There are lots of websites that offer such pieces of information. Also be sure that you know the dealers policy on rebates and incentives.

You may want to consider having option packages that the manufacturers offer. After all, these packages could save you a lot of cash. Also, compare prices. Check the price of an upgraded model to that that does not have quite yet the options you want. Then, balance your options.
