Scratches are one of the nuisances that you could have when it comes to keeping your car looking like new. Of course, scratches may not even be very much visible, however for car owners who are very conscious about how their machine looks could find these little lines something to worry about. After all, a scratch when put together with other scratches could make a vehicle owner look like a very careless person.

Of course there are various types of scratches on your cars paint. There are small scratches that are barely seen. There are even deeper ones that look like they have been carved to make you feel very guilty. However, for most scratches which are small, these can be fixed and repaired by just using touch up paint. On the other hand, the larger ones need more attention and may actually require you to use paint sprayers or even assistance from those trained professionals.

Before you start anything, determine first if your cars exterior is painted with enamel. If it is enameled, the color may not mix well with lacquer-based primer paint. On the other hand, if your cars paint is not enameled, you can then proceed to find the right kind of paint that would match your vehicles exterior color. You would also be needed primer paint. It is recommended that you use a light primer color so that your touch-up paint will be easily applied.

Time to turn to the scratch itself. Wash it as well as the surrounding area with a mild laundry detergent. Make sure that you remove any wax or other coatings that could affect the new paint that you will be applying later one. Then, you can now sand along the scratch. Use a fine-grained sandpaper to do this part. If there is any rust accumulation, sand them away as well. Make sure, also, that you blow away all the dust. Or you can also use a soft brush to remove the dust.

Put masking tape and newspaper around the scratch. But make sure that you leave around half an inch of working room around the area. This would be to isolate the scratch when you start doing the removal. Use a plastic knife to apply the body compound to the scratch. Make sure that it is applied not only on the surface but within the scratch itself. Wait until the compound hardens and when it does, start sanding away to make sure that the compound is flat. You would not want to have any bulks or bumps on your exterior. Then, blow or brush away all the dust.

Spray a small amount of primer paint to the scratch and let it dry overnight. Then, in the morning, you can then use a tough-ups applicator brush to paint the area. Let it dry overnight again. Come morning, your vehicle would be ready to strut its stuff on the roads without any signs that it suffered from a scratch.

To preserve the amazing performance of your car, there is a one-of-a-kind online store to provide you with durable Ford parts especially made for this brand. Ford Parts and Ford Auto Parts has been providing Ford owners with these parts and include Ford Escape parts in their line up of products.

You just paid a cool $73,000 for your fashionably new BMW and are cruising down the boulevard enjoying the ride. You zig and zag your way around the slow movers, marveling over the responsive steering and handling engineered into your 750i. As you pull into your driveway, park your sedan, and exit your vehicle, you turn around and your eyes feast upon its stunning Kalahari beige metallic finish. Quite frankly it is the most attractive looking vehicle you have ever owned. Unfortunately, many new BMW owners fail to provide the one level of protection that can keep your cars expensive finish from permanently losing its luster. What is that? Read on and I will tell you about a product that simply must be part of every luxury car owners inventory.

If you havent guessed it yet, what I am talking about is a custom fitted car cover for your bimmer. Yes, even if you garage your 750i or other fine vehicle, time and the elements will certainly attack your cars finish. Sure, you can do regular washes and waxes, but the inevitable will happen: something, somewhere will damage the finish. Besides, do you want to spend every weekend polishing your car? I doubt that!

No, you cant drive with a car cover on, but you can certainly have a car cover on hand to keep your parked car safe. Yes, there are enough things out there that can harm an expensive finish, even damaging it to the point where only an expensive repair can remedy the insult. The following are some of the hazards just waiting to happen:

1.Bird excrement You dont need to be parked under a tree for your car to get hit; a single drive-by bombing by a winged creature can do your finish in.

2.Weather Rain, snow, ice, and especially hail can damage a car in mere moments.

3.Trees A small branch can scratch any finish.

4.Sun Harmful solar rays are bad for your skin and your cars skin too.

5.Pollution There is no place on earth that is pollution free. Acid rain and airborne driven particles just love a new cars finish.

6.Kids Try keeping your neighbors kids away from the car. You may succeed, but hit balls can make a beeline for your wheels. Some car covers even offer protection against minor impacts.

All right, so you are cleverly thinking that your garaged vehicle is immune to such petty insults, right? Well, in one word you are incorrect. Indoor air pollution and dust can take its toll on your cars finish as can small impacts from anything that falls off of a wall and onto your car.

The solution? Select a car cover that is right for your vehicle. Even if you keep your car garaged most of the time, the best car cover on the market can protect your bimmer from moisture, the sun, dirt, pollution, and small impacts. Choose one that is custom made for your car with side mirror pockets built in and four layers of quick drying polypropylene material to provide the ultimate level of protection. You dont want something so thin that it doesnt provide all around protection you just never know when you will have to have your car outside for an extended period of time and you dont want a car cover that entombs your BMW either. Instead, select one that works with your bimmer, not against it.

Best of all, premium car covers can be had for under $200, a worthy investment for any car luxury or not. So, enjoy your new 750i, but give yourself some peace of mind by selecting a car cover that can protect its finish and keep it looking great for many years.

Car owners and drivers, as well, certainly have felt the effects of the upward movement of gas prices. In fact, many people have opted to use public transportation rather than use their cars and vehicles because of the high amount you have to pay in exchange for a liter or so of gas.

Now, it seems like everybody else is affected. Even the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, or much commonly known as NASCAR, have given approval for its arm, the NASCAR Performance Automotive Licensing Program, to join forces with the CCC, or the Car Care Council. Together, the two organizations has done brainstorming sessions and just recently launched a consumer education campaign which they dubbed as the Be An Angel, Maintain Your Car And Save Some Gas.

NASCAR and the CCC both maintain that this new campaign of theirs would also work as a call to action for all consumers. The campaign, in fact, even encourages car owners to maintain their vehicles regularly. This is because NASCAR and CCC believe that it is one of the best ways to achieve a better fuel mileage and in the process decreases expenses on gas.

A public service announcement that lasted for thirty seconds was produced by NASCAR. The organization is positing to run the mentioned announcement come the NASCAR programming which will actually launch and run throughout the whole month of July. Aside from this, all the local television stations scattered around the United States would also be receiving a copy of this public service announcement which they would have to run during their air time.

On the end of the Car Care Council, Rich White, its executive director, informs the public, Higher gas prices are here to stay. But fortunately consumers can take greater control of how much gas their vehicles use by performing simple and inexpensive maintenance.

NASCARs automotive licensing managing director, Odis Lloyd, explains, The opportunity to help consumers with their car care needs has never been more significant. By using NASCARs extensive media assets and partnering with our manufacturing and installer partners, we can help consumers combat rising fuel costs by getting them the necessary vehicle repair information they need to get better fuel economy.

Now that you have your own car, it is important that you do have the right automotive tools in handy. This is because you would never know when your car might act up and you would need to do some adjustments or repairs yourself. You should have a set of the basic and the most used automotive tools for car owners. These automotive tools should be kept handy either in a car repair kit or box inside your car or even in your cars trunk.

One of the first things that you should purchase for your cars tool kit would be an adjustable wrench. This tool has the ability to actually automatically adjust to the size of the nut and could loosen or tighten everything. You should shell out around $10 to $40 for this one.

You should include a continuity tester. It is an electrical test equipment. You can use this to check if there is an electrical path that can be made between two points. This is good for testing electrical parts in your car. This should cost you around $3 to $40.

For around $1.50 each, you should get a couple of funnels. This should help you out greatly in adding fluids and oils in your car. Make sure that you clean them after using them and also make sure that you use only one funnel for each fluid. For example, you should only use one funnel for adding brake fluid. Never use this funnel to add oil or washer fluid.

Do not forget to put in a car jack. You should spend around $9 for this one. You should use this in case you need to change your tires. This is one of the indispensable items that you should not forget to include in your automotive tool kit.

Headlight covers are one of the accessories that are most often used by car owners and enthusiasts who have vehicles and cars that they show off at car and auto shows. However, practicality wise, headlight covers are not usually used by ordinary motorists on their vehicles. These accessories are usually just to add a more stylish appeal and design to car show entrants. They are also often added to give the vehicle a more aesthetic appeal.

To have headlight covers for your auto show entrant, you can simply purchase headlight cover kits from your trusted auto parts dealer. There are two kits that you actually have to purchase. One kit would be that that consists of a cover and the molded clips. The other kit would be the one that holds decal patterns, plus stickers, and labels.

Each of these kits contains instructions on how to use them as well as how to install them. Go through each one and be familiar with the pieces of information provided. These would assist you when you would be doing the actual installation. When you are about to start the process, gather the following tools and materials: a lens cleaner, a squeegee, masking tape, soap solution, and vinyl decals. You would be using these as you go along.

First clean the surface of each headlight lens. Then, put on the cover on the car. Put up the decals on the lens on the locations where you choose them to be. Mark off these locations. Use tape on the outside of the headlight cover to show you the locations. Remove the cover then and spray the lens with soap solution. By doing such, the stencil will be held in place.

Next, apply the stencils on the lens. Place then on the location and areas where you actually want the light to shine through when the cover is already installed. Keep in mind that once you put on the cover, the rest of the areas would be covered in paint. Once you accomplished the location of your stencils, run the squeegee over the stencils. Work outward from the center and this action removes any air pockets.

The face of the lens should be masked off. By doing such, you are preventing any kind of overspray from getting on you vehicles shield. Next, clean the lens with glass cleaner and then allow it to dry. Once dry, apply the paint. When the paint is dry, use a razor blade or a sharp knife to lift off the decals and the stencils. Make sure that you do this carefully. Then, place the lens on the vehicle and clean it with plastic or Plexiglas cleaner.

For the most trusted and most reliable source of superb and quality accessories, there is no other car parts and accessories supplier than Auto Accessories Giant. It has a well-stocked collection of GMC Truck accessories and accessories for other brands.

There is one vehicle stolen for every 27 second in country like USA. That
a one scary fact for all of us who own a car. Avoidance is better than
heal; this should be your mantra if you dont want to be the next
casualty of car theft network that is active all over the world.

If motor vehicle departments of many countries are to be believed, over
millions of cars are going to be stolen this year. But you are definitely
not going to be one of those unfortunate car owners if you keep in mind
the following tips. Never forget these words lock and key. Over fifty
percent of the car thefts occur due to drivers forgetfulness; either he
leaves the car running, or he forgets the key in the ignition or sometimes
forgets to lock the garage door or the door of the car itself. Make sure
you roll up your windows, take the key and lock the door before leaving
the car unattended. Another useful tip is parking safety. Attended car
parks are safer than the unattended ones. Make sure the car park is well
lit. The wheels should be turned toward the side in driveways in the
parking position so that it cant be easily towed away. If you are leaving
the car for an extended period of time, disable it by removing the
electronic ignition fuse, coil wire, rotor distributor.

Also remember, dont make it easy for the thief. Dont leave the
registration documents inside the Car. If you do this, it will make life
easier for the thief who will use these documents to sell your stolen car.
Preserve the title in a safe place at home. Our car mostly our second biggest investment after our home, so please do not afraid to spend in antitheft devices. To top your antitheft measure, invest in a range of antitheft devices for ultimate protection. The common antitheft devices include; fuel-kill switches, ignition-kill switches, car alarms, steering wheel locks and immobilizers. Other car security systems provide you with an anti theft solution but if your car is stolen in spite of that, then the tracking device takes centre stage and helps the police track and recover your car. Thus it provides the ultimate part of your anti-theft measures. Just like your monetary obligation doesnt end with buying the mobile handset, in the same way buying the tracking product is only the first step. You have to pay a monthly service fee to keep the tracking service. GPS tracking system, of cause a little more investment but lot more safety. With a GPS (Global Positioning System) car tracking system, a car can be tracked on a computer map at a central monitoring station. Some of the systems come with the feature of verbal communication with the operator at the central station. This feature comes to great help particularly in the instances of car jacking.

The higher end car tracking services act on a proactive basis if the
operators find the vehicle running at an odd hour through an odd place,
they will contact the owner by phone to confirm that the owner of the
vehicle is aware of its whereabouts. Otherwise the police are informed
immediately. With a rather high product price and monthly rental service charges, car trackers are no doubt expensive. But remember, they are among the most effective security systems available today. So dont compromise security for money. After your entire insurer may well offer up to 10% off the premium if they know your vehicle has a tracking device. Make sure, all the devices are installed properly; otherwise it may affect the cars electrical system. It will be prudent to seek the help of a professional in this case.

Never leave valuables in plain view, even if your car is locked. Also
check with vehicle theft tracking/security system to know whether your
model belongs to the frequently stolen car model list. Get the VIN number
etched on the windows

Lastly, dont get upset if the worst happens despite all your precautions:
Inform the police as fast as possible including the location and time of
the theft.

How to Keep Your Tires in Good Shape for a Long Time

Your vehicles tires are actually synthetic rubber which has been shaped into its form. It covers the circumference of the wheel of a vehicle. What it actually does is it dampens any strong shocks or forces that could be the effects of any irregularities on the road surface like bumps or potholes. In fact, tires also protect the wheel itself from wearing out too soon.

That is why it is of utmost importance that a car owner should take extra care when it comes to the tires. One of the most common ways of keeping a tire in good shape and condition would be to maintain the proper air pressure. Make this activity a routine and do it regularly. And this is very important also when you are about to take long drives. And during the summer months, be sure that you check the tire pressure when the tires are cold for the air inside expands when the tires are hot so you would be getting a different reading.

How do you know the right amount of air has already been put inside the tires? Check your car owners manual. Usually, this document holds pertinent information regarding anything and everything about your vehicle and this includes the recommended tire pressure. Or you can also check the label found in the glove box or in the drivers sides door latch. You see, if a tire has just the right of pressure, they are more likely to last longer and less likely to fail you while you drive.
