2 Mar |
The Lincoln Mark VII is a vehicle that is from the Ford Motor Companys Lincoln division of luxury cars and vehicles. Before it was known as the Lincoln Mark VII, this vehicle actually was called and named as the Lincoln Continental Mark VII. Since it holds the Lincoln brand, it has been crafted to be a luxury car and it has been designed to be a large car. In fact, it has been produced as a coupe with an installed rear wheel drive system.
The lifespan of the Lincoln Mark VII started in 1984. Production for this vehicle continued up until 1992. The vacant spot and the niche in automobile history that the Lincoln Mark VII left behind were filled come the following year when the Lincoln Mark VIII took that spot.
The platform that the Lincoln Mark VII is mounted and constructed on is actually the very same platform that has already been used in other vehicles from the Ford Motor Company. This includes the Ford Thunderbird, the Ford Mustang, and the Lincoln Continental. During the period that the Lincoln Mark VII was introduced and that same period when this vehicle still roamed the streets, it has been said that the Lincoln Mark VII held the most high technology features when it came to comfort and convenience. This was when the vehicle was compared to all the other vehicles out in the market that time. These high class features included power accessories like the power windows, power locks, and power seating. The vehicle also held leather seating, a keyless entry system installed, an onboard computer and message center, as well as digital instruments and gauges.
In automobile history, this vehicle has also etched its name for this was the very first vehicle from the United States that came with the electronic four channel anti lock brakes. This happened back in November 1984. It was good timing though for after six months, the Corvette came out with a vehicle that held the same feature.

The 2006 cars are fresh in dealer showrooms and already talk is raging about several upcoming cars set for release in model year 2007 or later. The styles are great, the engineering is advanced, and you simply havent seen anything yet. Lets take a peak at what is coming down the pike. One of these future cars just may be what you end up driving!
Hyundai Equus Can you say, V8 Hyundai? Thats right, the Equus which is already sold in Korea, may make its debut here in North America as a 2008 model. Reports have it that the car, which is larger than the Sonata, will be a rear wheel drive four door sedan outfitted with wood, leather, and all the latest electronic gadgetry.
Saturn Outlook Things are certainly changing for Saturn, now that GM has killed off the Oldsmobile division. Still trying to find its footing amongst Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, and Cadillac, the division will get its first big crossover vehicle when the 8 passenger Outlook debuts as a 2007 model. Look for V6 power standard with the first Saturn equipped V8 as an option.
Ford Edge If a Ford model starts with an E it likely is an SUV. The Edge is an SUV and it isnt an SUV. More of a crossover vehicle, the 2007 Edge will be based on the Ford Fusion which borrows its platform from the Mazda 6. Positioned between the Escape and the Explorer, the Edge is meant to be Fords answer to other car based people movers including the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Highlander.
Volvo C30 Can you say, subcompact Volvo? Yes, it is true: Volvo will be introducing the C30, a three door hatchback coupe. Some eight inches shorter than the compact S40, the car will run on a small inline four and it may be the first Volvo to have an optional hybrid engine. The C30 is to debut as a 2007 model.
Chevrolet Sport Wagon GMs purchase of Daewoo is having some positive side effects in the development of the 2008 Sport Wagon. A joint Daewoo-Chevrolet venture, this five seat model will be a crossover vehicle and share some components with Chevys larger Equinox. Planned as a world car, the Sport Wagon is likely to wear Daewoo, Chevrolet, Suzuki, and Opel nameplates.
Are you excited yet? If not, there are hundreds of additional models on the drawing boards and concept cars on display at an auto show near you. Hang on, change is in the air and you havent seen anything yet!

| Chrysler Gives Its Okay To The Imperial |
6 Feb |
A venerable name in autodom is being resurrected and it will soon grace the body of a large, rear wheel drive luxury car. After a successful concept car debut at a pair of recent auto shows, the Chrysler Imperial will be built and should be in U.S. showrooms in 2010. Yes, it will be a long wait for the Imperials return but the car must first await additional changes within DaimlerChrysler before it can be built. Read on to learn more about the Imperials impending return.
The Chrysler Imperial that has been currently making the rounds at various auto shows has been well received. Visitors have remarked favorably about the cars Bentley like look as well as its cavernous interior and luxury appointments. Currently, the brand has nothing larger or more luxurious to offer buyers who might want to upgrade from the 300C, thus Chrysler has been regularly losing buyers to more luxurious brands, something parent DaimlerChrysler [DCX] wants to stem.
The Imperial name can be traced all the way back to 1926 when Walter P. Chrysler decided to take on Lincoln and Packard with a luxury model all of its own. From its inception, the Imperial has always represented the top of the line vehicle for Chrysler and it has, at various times, been marketed as its own make. Various versions of the Imperial have shown up over the years, with most of them being ultra luxurious versions of Chryslers New Yorker model.
The 2011 Chrysler Imperial will be similar in design to the concept car, but without the suicide doors. Chrysler put the special doors on the concept car in order to make it easier for auto show visitors to see inside the vehicle. Still, reports from the company are indicating that the 22 inch wheels, Bentley grille, boxy body, and leather/wood trim would be included. Prices for the Imperial will not be announced for several more years, but it could retail for as high as $60,000 according to some reports. Currently, the top of the line 300C maxes out at around $42,000.
So, why the hold up? Well, for one thing the Imperial program will be an added expense for DCX. Currently, the company is in the process of making its Mercedes line up more profitable and that involves the expense of updating several models. Based on the Mercedes R Class body, the coming Imperial is likely to be built on an updated version of the R Class platform. Both cars would arrive in dealer showrooms at the same time as 2011 models, hence the long lead time.
The Imperial concept sits on a frame with a 123 inch wheelbase. The car measures 214 long, much longer than the 300C. Reports are indicating that the concept car dimensions are likely to be retained.
For Chrysler fans, the Imperial represents further strengthening of the Chrysler-Mercedes relationship. By using a Mercedes platform, the Imperial can be built and will give Chrysler a much needed product. With a standard V8 mated to a five or six speed automatic the car will certainly not be on the fuel efficient side. However, my best guess is that the car will also come optionally equipped with a thrifty Mercedes built turbo diesel, a first for any Chrysler car.

| Chrysler 300C: The Stretched Version |
5 Feb |
As automakers go, developing well received models is a chore all by itself. When a model becomes a hit, as has the Chrysler 300C, the result is favorable press coverage, high customer satisfaction ratings, and a halo effect that can extend to the entire product line. Chryslers 300C is a hit, but the German-American automaker isnt stopping there. A stretched version of the car is being developed, one that may find a following amongst enthusiasts, but only if the price is right.
So, why would DaimlerChrysler authorize a stretched version of the 300C? For several reasons including:
The Limo Market Although the 300C is not on the same level as the Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac DTS, the car does compete with the Ford Crown Victoria. Hence, taxi and limousine operators will be drawn to the stretched 300C as the car gives its passengers the room that they need.
The Pursuit Market The Ford Crown Victoria is the most popular police pursuit vehicle followed by the Chevy Impala. Chrysler long ago ceded this market when they quit building larger rear wheel drive automobiles. The stretched 300C could fit in nicely and give the automaker some additional sales to boost market share. Look for a similarly stretched Dodge Charger to also be built once 300C demand has been proven.
The Luxury Market No, the 300C is not a luxury car, but a model coming down the pike 3-4 years from now will be. Yes, the Chrysler Imperial will be returning and it, too, will be a stretched version of the 300C, but even longer and larger than the stretched version of the 300C. Dont think for a moment that DaimlerChrysler will not be measuring demand for its new 300C to determine Imperial demand.
For the record, there are a few things that we know about the bigger 300C: the car will be stretched only by six inches and all of those gains will show up in the rear passenger area. In addition, Chrysler will not be building the stretched 300C, instead an outside supplier will handle the task of taking existing models and reworking them.
Prices for the bigger 300C havent been finalized yet, but they may carry a premium of as much as $5000 over the shorter model. This is a concern, however, as the price may be more than what some livery drivers could justify. Perhaps DaimlerChrysler will eat some of the costs and hold the price down to a $1000 premium. If they dont, the company could be in for a rude awakening and find demand for the stretched 300C to be tepid at best.

| Beneath the Volvo 940 |
25 Dec |
The Volvo 940 is a part of the Swedish car makers line up of vehicles. Fact is, this vehicle is one of the last of the large rear wheel drive cars that is produced under the Volvo brand and name. In the United States and the rest of North America, the Volvo 940 made its way to public knowledge as a 1991 model. This series of vehicles were in essence just a style and design makeover of the Volvo 740. People claimed this was so because the drivetrains one found on the Volvo 940 is also what the Volvo 740 used. But not only that, for the Volvo 940 also has most features that the older vehicle had.
The sharing of components part was what led people to think that the Volvo 940 was just another Volvo 740. In fact, the Volvo 940 held the same dashboard, and the same choices for its drivetrain. Also the same was the sheetmetal from the A pillar forward. But of course, there were changes and distinctions between the two. If one would look at the brighter side of these two cars, he would be able to see that the Volvo 940 is more updated and was the car that underwent evolution.
This vehicle model from Volvo was made available in body styles that comprise of the sedan (salon), and the wagon (estate). The last of its kind rolled off the manufacturing plants in the year 1998. Going back to its humble beginnings, the Volvo 940 was actually introduced to the public along with its sibling, the Volvo 960. Both of these vehicles held seen petrol engines with four cylinders. There was also the optional turbocharged engine as well as the turbo diesel engine with six cylinders. And just like any other Volvo vehicle, the Volvo 940 came packed with safety features. The collection of safety features included a three-point inertia-reel seat belt, an adjustable head restraint in the middle of the rear seat, and an integrated child seat built into the rear sears middle armrest. The adjustable head restraint was actually a precursor to the worlds first. This leaps done by Volvo with the Volvo 940 as per safety was recognized well enough. And for that, Volvo received international awards that included the Prince Michael Road Safety Award as well as the prize for the best safety features from Auto Car and Motor.

| Before the Mazda 6 |
25 Dec |
For the market outside of its domain in Japan, Mazda produced the Mazda 626 family car. It was based on the Mazda Capella which was mainly sold in Japan. This new vehicle replaced the 616/618 and the RX-2 in 1979 and this was sold up until 2002. What took up the place of the Mazda 626 was the Mazda 6. In Asia, Australasia, and in Southern Africa, the Mazda 626 was sold under the name Ford Telstar.
This vehicle made its first public appearance in 1979 as a rear wheel drive compact. It had a 75 hp 2.0 liter SOHC straight-4 G/MA engine that had automobile magazines comparing it to a BMW engine. The vehicle sported a split-folding rear seat that increased cargo capacity and flexibility to the maximum level. This vehicle has been a top seller since its production.
In the year 1998, the Mazda 626 had gone through a dramatic change in its entirety. All models had either a five-speed manual transmission or the optional four-speed automatic. It had a wheelbase that was enlarged to two inches and the sedan type had 2.4 inches longer, and around a half inch wider. Along with that came the V6 engine that took traction control and engine mobilization to another level. From that time on, changes had been constantly done to the Mazda 626 to further improve its performance and user appeal.
In 1999, the Mazda 626 experienced a shuffling of its equipments. Mazda dropped the base DX sedan and in its place added up a four-cylinder version of the top-line ES that came with trimmed leather. For all trim levels of the Mazda 626, keyless entry became a standard, along with variable-intermittent wipers, and a power antenna. The following year, this vehicle had an option list. The list included front side airbags, and ABS. Its four-cylinder engine gained five horsepower more. All trim levels held rear-seat heater ducts, and some of these levels had heated mirrors although others had this as an option. The final year for the Mazda 626 came in 2002 before it was entirely replaced by the new Mazda 6.
Overall, the Mazda 626 held a quiet and refined stance. Its engine and wind noise were muffled well. It has a firm and absorbent ride quality. It holds a precise steering and good braking. It has large doorways that allows for an easy entrance or exit. It is a competitive vehicle when talking in terms of its visibility, driving, seating, and its dashboard layout. Its interior exudes a tasteful and understated look. It has roomy compartments within its dashboard and console and its map pockets.
With years of combined experience in selling premium quality Mazda parts, Mazda Parts and Mazda Auto Parts has been the trusted and most reliable source of superb quality Mazda 626 parts and other Mazda parts.
In a nutshell, the Mazda 626 quite suffers from road noise and a low performance of its automatic transmission. However, this is quickly dispersed by its V6 engines perfect acceleration, quality steering and handling, and a superb build quality that only the Mazda 626 has to offer.

| A Luxurious Drive |
30 Nov |
The 2006 Lincoln LS is only available in one trim only, and that is the V8 Sport. It is crafted under the Lincoln brand as a luxury sports sedan with four doors, and can accommodate a passenger capacity of five people maximum. It is equipped with the standard 3.9 liter V8 engine with 280 horsepower and this can achieve 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg while driving on the highway. Also standard is a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. This vehicle is a freshened version for this year.
During its first production, this was introduced as a midsize, rear wheel drive luxury car at entry-level. It has the Ford DEW98 platform that is also used by the Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird. Its main competitors in the market include the BMW 3 series, the Lexus ES, the Mercedes Benz C-Class, the Acura TL, and the Cadillac CTS. This vehicle was first introduced in the early part of 1999 and this was the first Lincoln vehicle that offered a manual transmission. It was a definite attractive alternative to European and Japanese sports sedans. However, come 2006, the Lincoln LS model for this year had been moved from the entry-level luxury segment to the bottom of the mid-level luxury segment, thus having a change in competitors. This time, it had the Mercedes Benz E-class, the Cadillac STS, the BMW 5-Series, and the Lexus GS as its main competitors.
Even if the Lincoln LS shares the very same platform that the Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird is using, this vehicle still differs in its styling and equipment. This vehicle comes with a 280-hp V8 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift capability, ABS, traction control, and 17-inch wheels. What is also made standard are the front side airbags. It also features and has options like head-protecting curtain side airbags, an antiskid system, power-adjustable pedals, a rear-obstacle detection system, a navigation system, a THX sound system, an AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD changer, an upgraded sound system, a power sunroof, heated/cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a tri-coat paint, metallic paint, chrome alloy wheels, and xenon head lamps. Rumors have it, though, that this year could be the last time that the Lincoln LS would be rolling off the manufacturing plants.
As per its fuel economy, the Lincoln LS has averaged 17.7 to 19.0 mpg. Lincoln, thus recommends regular-grade fuel in this vehicle model. Although it is less composed than its European rivals, the Lincoln LS has a ride quality that is comfortable enough. Its expansion joints are fairly well-masked and hidden. It is also capable and balanced in aggressive cornering. Its steering and handling provides a good grip and steering feel. The brakes also have a moderate body lean and are strong. It is not really hushed up, however it could be quite enough for the only noise one could hear would be the low wind and minor tire roar on coarse pavements.
Lincoln Parts and Car Parts online store contains a stock of high quality and well-crafted Lincoln LS parts and accessories.
